We have been using natural herbs and leaves from plants for a very long time in our cooking. Not only do we use natural herbs for cooking but we make hot beverages from the leaves of many plants. Spices are dare to us because of our Caribbean decent. We flavor our pots with multiple different herbs when cooking. Herbs brings out natural flavors and makes your cooking masterpieces.

You may have heard people say Plant Base Seasonings , Herbs or Spices but don't let it confuse you too much. Plant base does not mean you are a Vegan or Vegetarian. According to Harvard Medical School "Plant-based or plant-forward eating patterns focus on foods primarily from plants. This includes not only fruits and vegetables, but also nuts, seeds, oils, whole grains, legumes, and beans. It doesn't mean that you are vegetarian or vegan and never eat meat or dairy."


How To Get Started On A Plant Based Diet -

If you are looking for ways to get started on a Plant Base Diet - start off by eating lots of vegetables; consider using good fats such as Olive Oils, Nuts Butters , and Avocados; enjoy your favorite fruit after a main dish; consume lots of green leafy vegetables and vegetables that are easy to prepare; try having a vegetarian dish at least once a week, this can be for dinner or lunch; reduce your meat intake; have move grains such as quinoa, oatmeal, and barley. When you feel hungry, enjoy a salad loaded with your favorite vegetables and add some almond slices or walnuts- use a vinaigrette dressing to reduce fat intake.



Here are 10 Seasonings We Use Often In Our Cooking -

  1. Smoked Sweet Paprika - this is made from dried fruits from the chili family. We love the flavor of the smoked sweet paprika so its a must have.

  2. Turmeric - this is from the ginger root family and gives your dishes a yellow color. It's the main ingredient in Curry Spice. Turmeric is loaded with bioactive compounds and powerful medicinal properties.

  3. Italian Spice - this is a combination of varies herbs blended for a unique fusion. Great for your pasta dishes.

  4. Chili Powder -if you are for moderate spice, this is a great choice. Deep red to darkish red in color. They are members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae.

  5. Cumin -Use in moderation; it has a musty and earthy flavor and can be used as a ground spice. Good for your stews, curry, meats and vegetables. We use cumin in our sauces for a flavorful kick.

  6. Garlic Powder - one of the most potent herbs and great in almost every meal you can think of. Our Garlic Pepper Blend is delicious on potatoes, eggs, fish, spicy garlic breads.

  7. Onion Powder -one of my all time favorite to cook with. We use natural onion in just about every meal we cook. Having a bottle of Onion Powder for added flavor and easy usage is a given.

  8. Cinnamon Powder- talk about flavor -add some cinnamon to your baking, hot chocolate, and your BBQ spices. It's made from the bark of Cinnamomum Verum also knowns as Ceylon Cinnamon and processed into powder.

  9. Natural Sauces- sauces brings out the flavor in most if not all meals. They are loaded with natural herbs and spices. Sauce provide distinct and bold flavors for dishes.

  10. Poultry Spice Blend- calm and unique combination of herbs and spices.
